THE 7TH JANUARY SEAT: Allow Nana Akufo-Addo to destroy President Akufo-Addo – An Owula Mangortey observation

I am a Citizen.

I rise to state that the person who is capable of swiftly destroying my respected Retired and Tired President Billy Akufo-Addo is Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo!

If the OPPOSITION LEADER is smart he will let Akufo-Addo destroy Akufo-Addo.

No sweat!

Akufo-Addo’s enraging assaults on decency and decorum on which Ghanaian society depends naturally elicit a response of righteous indignation.

The temptation is for the OPPOSITION LEADER and his supporters to respond to him, boot-for-boot.

My advice to the OPPOSITION LEADER is: Don’t expend your energy, time and resources to play Akufo-Addo’s game.

Yenim Akufo-Addo fri tete!

As Michelle Obama once famously said, “the Presidency doesn’t change who you are, it reveals who you are.”

According to Mrs Obama, during a presidential campaign, if a candidate is erratic and threatening; and trading in insults and prejudice, fears and lies on the trail; if a candidate has no clear plans to deliver his goals; if a candidate disrespects his fellow citizens, including folks who make extraordinary sacrifices for the country; that is who he is.

That is the kind of President he will be.

“A candidate can not suddenly change once they get into office,” Mitchelle Obama said.

How true the wise words of Mitchelle Obama do ring in our Ghanaian ears.

The “all- die- be- die” mantra of then Opposition Leader Akufo-Addo became manifested in the violence at the recent Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-election under President Akufo-Addo’s watch!

2020 will be a year of aching-joy and sweet-pain. Right?

And Akufo-Addo will continue to thrive on his unbridled rage.

He will not only seethe with rage, but will stir it in his appointees, family, friends and party apparatchiks.

He will continue neck deep in morphing Ghana’s constitutional democracy into an unconstitutional ethnocracy.

He will continue to take provocative, in your face actions, “I have done it, what are you going to do?”

And the Citizens will continue to ask if Akufo-Addo is the worst Ghanaian political charlatan of all time?

Will he be something lowest than he is?

The Citizens will continue to require answers to these follow-up questions:

Is Akufo-Addo a leader bereft of ideas and beliefs, but who only played the political game with lies and numbed the country through three years of a decline which is expected to be long and tragic?

Is Akufo-Addo an over- hyped, empty- headed hypnotherapist sleep- walking Ghana into a third-tier status?

How has Akufo-Addo gotten away with it so far?

How did the Citizens sit down for the Kyebi political chameleon to chain Ghana to the abyss?

Does Akufo-Addo think he is PALOV and the Citizens are the dogs?

Is the OPPOSITION LEADER eager, prepared, willing and ready to unseat Akufo-Addo on 7th January?

Will the OPPOSITION LEADER be sucked in to wrestle Akufo-Addo in his preferred game of insults, lies, calumny, chicanery, incompetence and corruption name-calling?

Is it not seductive for the OPPOSITION LEADER to chase Akufo-Addo down his divisive cultural, ideological and ethnocentric rabbit hole?

Little, little things matter if the OPPOSITION LEADER wants to win in a high scoring 9-8 shout-out in Akufo-Addo’s preferred backyard.

Those who have ears, let them hear!

The tragedy is for the OPPOSITION LEADER to be obsessed with so much fluffy noise and to be caught up in the whirlwind inordinate ambition of becoming President that he stops thinking of basic, basic details of the political game.

I repeat. Those who have ears, let them hear!

Trading punches toe-to-toe is Akufo-Addo’s preferred combat.

To wrestle him, the OPPOSITION LEADER requires expertise in jiu- jitsu, a different battle technique typically defined as the art of manipulating an opponent’s strength against himself rather than confronting it with one’s own force.

It is simple.

As typical of him, Akufo-Addo will continue to rev up his ethnic base; but he risks driving away cohort of votes from the SILENT Citizens still smarting under his family and friends governance paradigm.

Can Ghanaians wake up each day to the tantrums, fights, turmoil and scandals that surround this irascible President?

Can Ghanaians progress on issues of concern to their lives with a President who looks for ways to divide the country for his own political purposes?

Can Ghanaians continue to cope with Akufo-Addo’s impulse to create a binary choice which induces Citizens to retreat to their ethnic origins?

As the dynamics play out, the opportunity will be created for the OPPOSITION LEADER to do house-to house-leg work, and shout messages that allow defectors to cross the bridge.

The explosive retaliatory strikes will begin on 9th May, the anniversary of the epochal day in 2017 when Nana Akufo-Addo, through Nana Asante Bediatuo, threw a dynamite into a tinderbox.

Black ravines are circling over the country.

Nobody sees it coming. Ghana’s year of protests and violence will stun every one from observers to participants.

What will start the crisis is the abuse of state power from 9th May to 5th June, 2017, by President Akufo-Addo to settle his personal and parochial scores against two Citizens.

Minister of National Security, Kan Dapaah, and Kweku Sintim Misa (KSM) of the Metro TV TGIF soap opera, are fully aware of the miscalculation and consequences of President Akufo-Addo’s gross abuse of state power for his personal gain.

It is the paralyzing disorder and anxiety Akufo-Addo’s bilious behaviour creates that is threatening to be a distressing turn off to Citizens at the margins who strive to make a difference.

Who will want to turn Akufo-Addo’s negative energy against him?

The OPPOSITION LEADER should let Nana Akufo-Addo use his negative energy and contortions against President Paa Willie Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Akufo-Addo will destroy Akufo-Addo!

I Shall Retunr (sic).
