The Biggest Achievement of North Tongu DCE Hon. Osborn Divine Fenu in the Volta Region
It is clear that the DCE has not fulfilled his responsibilities to the people of North Tongu, leaving behind a legacy of neglect and broken promises.
Hon. Osborn Divine Fenu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for North Tongu, controls 95% of the Assembly’s revenue, but his tenure has been marked by the neglect of critical infrastructure projects. One of the most notable examples is the Fodzoku Police Station, which was commissioned on April 16, 2019, but has since been left to decay.
This is just one of many projects that have been abandoned under his leadership. It is clear that Hon. Osborn Divine Fenu has shown little interest in the development of the district, leaving a trail of neglected initiatives.
In stark contrast, H.E. President John Dramani Mahama and Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa have successfully overseen the construction of the Juapong-Adidome road, which has significantly improved transportation in the area.
However, there is still a small portion—about 1.5 km—of the road connecting Vome Township that has been ignored by the DCE. Despite being a native of Vome, Hon. Fenu has shown no interest in working on this critical stretch, leaving drivers to struggle through the mud to reach the township whenever it rains.
Moreover, residents of Vome and surrounding villages continue to face serious challenges, including lack of access to clean drinking water and basic sanitation facilities such as toilets.
During his four years in office, Hon. Osborn Divine Fenu also oversaw the collapse of the Juapong Textile Factory, further highlighting his failure to prioritize the economic development of the district.
It is clear that the DCE has not fulfilled his responsibilities to the people of North Tongu, leaving behind a legacy of neglect and broken promises.
