The Kwame A-Plus Story – What you don’t really know about him

To those who want to listen, I say to you, keep pushing and never give up. I came to Accra a derelict. (No place to stay, no job and no property). 22 years after walking into Accra, though I’m very thankful to God for how far he has brought me, I’m still very far away from my dream. I’ve tried so many things. From music to acting to comedy to event organizing and artist management.

I managed Yaw Sarpong and Pat Thomas’ gospel collaboration “Wunderbar” in 2002. I managed and promoted the late Bob Santo’s “Village Court” and Micky Osei Berko aka Dada Boat’s movie Long Cherished Dream for ITC.

In 2003, 17 years ago, I organized the independence beach Jam at Labadi beach. Artist on the bill included Kokoveli, KK Fosu and Batman (Samini). A year later, I organized the Valentine Beach Jam at the same venue.

In 2011 my friend and I registered and organized the 1st Ghana Music and Food Festival, a three day event at the Ghana International Trade Fair Center. Though it was successful a lot of money was lost due to lack of sponsorship. A year later in 2012 we tried again at the children’s park but failed woefully. Vendors chased and humiliated us day and night for their money but we didn’t give up. In 2013, we tried again at Block Factory, Spintex Road and this time it was worse. The following year, I wanted to try the event again but I didn’t have money to print letters. It’s hard my people. That’s how broke I was. In comedy, I performed at the nigh of 1007 and 1008 laughs organized by Chatter House and again in 2015.

All these struggles made me who I am today. I do not consider myself a successful person. What I know is that, I have gathered a worth of experience in life which makes it easy for me to maneuver and gives me the courage to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. Paulo Coelho once said that, “there is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure”. I’m not fearless, but the fear of failure or criticism cannot stop me from doing what will make me great.
I have succeeded few times. I’ve failed so many times but I’ll keep trying.

There is not a single person who was born with self confidence or self worth. These are skills you acquire by association. I don’t believe there is anyone who is destined to fail. What most people lack is the strength to keep pushing and the courage to try again. This life is an eternal struggle designed to sweep you off your feet and smash you to the ground so hard that you either die, give up or come out strong if you survive the storm. Always remember that, no matter how hard you fall, once you are breathing, it is not a crisis. Get up, lick your wounds and try again.

Be a fighter who is determined to go out there and face your demons and trust me, your angels will come out in their numbers to sing for you.

Never stop trying. Never stop believing. Never give up. Your day will come. There is an opportunity for every willing heart. Keep knocking, a door shall open for you where you least expect it. Prepare for your opportunity. It is on it’s way

I love you all. I’m being honest. I love you and wish you well
