The Man Apostle Michael K. Ntumy
May the Lord you served, and led multitudes to, reward you alive, and beyond generations
Your service comes to an end, but we take solace in the fact that you still have more years ahead in life to still inspire ministries.
When he was made Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, he was barely 42 years old, and the task was very daunting. A blossoming church, yet shrouded in the perception of high-handed and stringent dogmatic morality principles. The Church of Pentecost at the time was not appealing to the youth. It reserved an unpalatable reputation as a judgmental Christian fellowship.
And the charge was given to a ‘young’ man of 42, still enduring his activism as an evangelist in a crisis struck country, to lead the Church into the millennium and render it more vibrant, more youthful, expansive and above all, still Christ and Holy Spirit centered.
You worked it out. Your youthful energy was ably and thoroughly dispensed. Your ministerial personality was national in nature. It transcended the corners of the Executive Council of the Church. Testament to this fact was your passionate and leading involvement in national interdenominational services and events during your tenure as Chairman.
You set the tone for the youth to enter into ministry proudly, and that is what has brought the church to this height in this present day, where it keeps attracting year on year, top notch youthful professionals into its ministerial service.
You endeared the church to many, and yet managed to preserve the sole focus of the church. Something many leaders of transitional religious groups have woefully failed at. It’s either the church gets numbers and lose its moral focus, or maintain the focus and lose numbers. But, Ntumy! Ntumy! Did it.
Even when your health had taken a hit from a spine surgery, and your tenure of Chairman had ended, you still chose to serve. Who does that!? Many leaders across the world bow out of service after hitting the pinnacle, regardless of their age. Yet a relatively frail Ntumy purposed to labor on in ministry. What a lesson you are to leadership. After Chairing the Church, you humbly accepted a role beneath the Chairman’s office and worked diligently under the new Chairman.
May the Lord you served, and led multitudes to, reward you alive, and beyond generations. You are not only an inspiration to the Church of Pentecost, in Ghana and out of Ghana, but to the entire body of Christ.
Well done distinguished Apostle.
