Theresa Lardi Awuni: My Aim is to Continue Bridging the Unemployment Gap Among the Youth if Re-Elected as MP
She remains confident in her ability to continue delivering transformative projects and programs for her constituency if re-elected.
The Member of Parliament for the Okaikwei North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Honorable Theresa Lardi Awuni, has reaffirmed her commitment to addressing unemployment among the youth and women in her constituency. Through her skills development initiatives, she has empowered many, contributing significantly to reducing unemployment in the area.
The Okaikwei North Constituency, created in 2012, encompasses parts of New Achimota, Kissiman, Christian Village, Lapaz, and Nii Boi Town. It shares boundaries with Ayawaso West Wuogon, Trobu, and Okaikwei Central.
Supporting Development Through Action
Hon. Theresa Awuni has demonstrated her dedication to development through initiatives such as providing water tankers, improving road infrastructure, and sponsoring skills training programs. These contributions, she believes, have earned her the trust of her constituents and will inspire them to re-elect her in the upcoming elections.
“I urge my constituents to vote massively for me and for former President John Mahama to bring more development projects to Okaikwei North,” she stated during an interview with GhanaNewsOnline.
A Journey of Service
Hon. Theresa’s motivation to enter politics stems from her passion for seeing young people succeed and empowering women beyond exploitation. She began her political journey as a branch women organizer, eventually rising through the ranks to serve as branch secretary, branch chairperson, and constituency deputy women organizer.
“When Fadama was part of Okaikwei North, I contested twice as women organizer and won. With the support of my people, I aspired for higher office and am now serving them as MP by the special grace of God,” she reflected.
Achievements in Office
Responding to criticism from political opponents, Hon. Theresa highlighted her track record:
- Investment in education and skills training programs.
- The commissioning of seven boreholes to provide clean water for her constituents.
- Provision of streetlights to improve security.
“I will continue to provide clean water and address the effects of galamsey on water quality here in Accra. I promise that when my government comes to power, I will secure loans to empower women in my constituency,” she emphasized.
Hon. Theresa also urged her constituents to visit her dedicated website, www.stillobaana.com, to view the comprehensive list of her achievements during her tenure.
Vision for the Future
With a vision centered on sustainable development and empowerment, Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni seeks to bridge the unemployment gap among the youth and women in Okaikwei North. She remains confident in her ability to continue delivering transformative projects and programs for her constituency if re-elected.
