Togo is Duty Free But Bawumia Said Ghana Will Have the Lowest Duty in Africa, Lower than Togo- Dr. Steve Manteaw Exposes Bawumia

The NPP Presidential Candiadate , Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Sunday during the launch of the NPP Manifesto said “Ghana will have the lowest duty, lower than Togo”,

His comments has received barrage of criticism with some describing it as another deliberate lie by the man tagged by some Ghanaians as “Bawuliar”.

The criticisms stem from the fact that Togo is duty free country, meaning importers don’t pay duty at the Port but the Vice President’s statement-from “the Bold Solutions” Manifesto is one that has enraged political watchers and kept people talking

One of such people is former Chairman of PIAC, Dr. Steve Manteaw who, upon the statement of Dr. Bawumia, has asked Ghanaians not to be cajoled by these promises.
On his Facebook wall he wrote in part:

Something that struck me as I listened to DMB on Saturday: “Ghana will have the lowest duty in West Africa, lower than that of Togo”.

Meanwhile,Togo is duty-free, so how will DMB achieve this feat? I mean how? How is customs duty in Ghana going to be lower than that of a duty-free jurisdiction? Ghanaians look sharp!!! Don’t take every thing the politician says line, hook, and sinker”

Following this backlash, many are wondering whether Bawumia’s “Bold Solutions” are indeed a bold one or a hoax.
