Part of the Ghs 50 million funds Dr Ibrahim Awal noted, will be used to support entrepreneurs in the sector.
In Ghana, the tourism sector is said to have lost about Ghs 6 billion from the effect of the pandemic and it is on record that after every catastrophe, there is a surge in tourism. We think it is time to enhance the capacity of our entrepreneurs so that they can take advantage of the surge in tourist activities when the time comes [sic].”
“And so when given the opportunity as a minister, I will institute measures to ensure the sector is back on track [sic],” he told the Appointments Committee.
Speaking further, the Minister-designate stated that despite the funds disbursed to sector players last year to cushion them from the devastating effect of the pandemic, there is the need for additional funds targeted at building the capacity of entrepreneurs and the industry at large, as that will boost economic recovery after the pandemic.
