The Appeals Court has dismissed a contempt case filed by some aggrieved tenants of the Ghana Trade Fair company limited (GTFC) against the Chairman and Chief Executive of that institution for undertaking a demolition exercise to pave way for the redevelopment of the site.
The aggrieved tenants claimed the demolition exercise was illegal and so filed a contempt case against the said leadership to stop them from being evicted.
But, the Appeals court on Monday ruled that the tenants have failed to prove their case “beyond reasonable doubt” that the Chairman and Chief Executive committed any contempt as alleged. The case was therefore dismissed.
It would be recalled that the Management of GTFC under the leadership of Dr. Agnes Adu as CEO and Daniel Mckorley as Board Chairman undertook a demolition exercise on the company’s premises granted by the court on the 12 of February, 2020.
This affected almost all the tenants occupying the premises including the former Editor of the Enquirer newspaper, Raymond Archer.
But Dr Agnes Adu claimed the redevelopment plans has attracted some US$2 billion in private investment for the develop of the Trade Fair into a destination of preference for organisers of conferences and large-scale events.
