Traditional Council Bans the Use of ‘Pragia’ in Techiman
The Techiman Traditional Council has announced that the use of tricycles (Pragia) will be restricted in certain areas in the municipality. The ban is to take effect from Wednesday, 1st January, 2020.
In a press statement released today, signed by the Registrar, Eghan Evans, and copied to ghananewsonline.com.gh, the council noted that the road traffic regulations prohibits the use of these tricycles for commercial purposes.
“It should be explained that according to L.1 2180 of Road Traffic Regulations, 2012, Section 128, sub section 1 to 4 prohibits the use of motor cycle or tricycle for commercial purpose”
They mentioned that, the council if only acting upon the road traffic regulations to enforce the appropriate behavior.
The council outlined the restricted routes in the municipality to include
- From Derry Hotel to Zongo Roundabout
- From Zongo roundabout to Hansua
- From MCE junction to Valley View University Entrance
4.From Tanom (from Tuobodom) to Zongo roundabout.
They urged drivers of Pragia, Pragia Association in Techiman, and the general public to “treat these directives as a sufficient notice”
