Trolls on social media after my first single compelled me to release second one – Emelia Brobbey

Actress and singer, Emelia Brobbey has said that attacks she received on social media following the release of her first single, “fa meko” compelled her to release a second.

The new song, ‘Odo Electric’ features Afro-pop singer Wendy Shay. The song comes weeks after Emelia Brobbey received heavy backlash from Ghanaians on social media for her ‘horrible’ voice.

Many who had known the singer as only an actress questioned why she chose to enter into the music industry despite her ‘bad voice’.

But speaking to colleague actor Akwasi Boadi, popularly known as ‘Akrobeto’ on his UTV show, Real News, Emelia Brobbey said the negative response she received from ‘Fa meko’ meant that people wanted her to improve upon her music, hence her decision to release another one which addresses the concerns of critics.

“I heard a lot of people saying technically the song is not good, some were saying the voice is not good, and some were saying the song is too good. So the response was just negative and positive but I think people were just playing around the song, promoting it, but others also took it seriously so I think it is just show business.”

“The first song people were saying it was not good so why do I bring another one? First of all, I think when you bring out something and people criticize it I think it’s a good thing. When people criticize you it doesn’t mean they don’t love you, they are trying to tell you to improve whatever you are doing and make it good,” the entertainer said.

Emelia’s new song with RuffTown Record’s Wendy Shay talks about a lady who had given up on love after a brutal heartbreak, only to have another guy sweep her off her feet.

The song is produced by award-winning music producer, MoG.

There have been mixed reactions to the release of the new single this time round. While some believe there’s been a major improvement in her singing in comparison to her first song, many still stand by the view that Emelia Brobbey simply has ‘no talent’ when it comes to music.

This, however, will not deter the musician as she says she has more songs in the pipeline to be released soon.

“I don’t have to listen to the negative comments and say I won’t follow my passion or my dream. It’s my dream to sing and nothing is going to pull me back from singing. As a matter of fact, I have about two or three other songs to release so I am not stepping down today or tomorrow,” she added.
