TUC Sec-Gen Denies Bribery Allegations

The Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Joshua Ansah, has categorically denied allegations made against him by Kwame Baffoe, Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to him, Mr. Baffoe’s claim that he demanded GH¢5 million from the NPP to call off Organised Labour demonstrations is a fabrication.

In a statement issued yesterday, the TUC boss also refuted claims that he received GH¢500,000 from a minister to pay transportation fees for delegates attending the TUC’s 12th Quadrennial Delegates Congress.

Mr. Ansah noted that he never asked anyone in the NPP for GH¢5 million, stressing that one individual cannot influence the decision-making structure of the TUC or Organised Labour.

He claimed he had initiated legal action against Kwame Baffoe to protect his reputation and that of the TUC, describing the allegations as “frivolous, baseless, unfounded, contemptuous, and reprehensible.”

Mr. Ansah reiterated the TUC’s commitment to fighting illegal mining activity (galamsey) alongside the government and other stakeholders.

He emphasized that their actions prioritize national interest over political or corporate interests.

The TUC boss urged Organised Labour to remain resolute and united, while asking them to disregard what he termed as “baseless allegations” aimed at dividing their front and distracting them from their mission.
