TUDEC Donates Portable Dental Delivery Unit to 37 Military Hospital

TUDEC Development Centre – a non-profit organization has donated a Portable Dental Delivery Unit worth about Nine Thousand Cedis (GHC9,000) to the Dental Division of the 37 Millitary Hospital in Accra today Friday, October 28, 2022.

The donation of the portable dental unit which is a machine that contains air or the electric-powered instrument controlled by a dentist during procedures to save time, and prevent frustration during a dental surgery, forms part of TUDEC’s mandate of support to healthcare delivery in Ghana.

Speaking to ghananewsonline.com.gh on the sidelines of the donation, President of TUDEC, Cafer Tepeli, remarked that when the organization got wind of the need for a dental delivery unit at the hospital, they responded swiftly because the 37 Millitary Hospital has become the most accessed hospital in the capital due to its efficiency and less expensive nature to all manner of persons.

“The prices here when you compare with other hospitals are very reasonable. So people are rushing to this hospital, we know this. One of TUDEC’s Directors, Dr Kamel has done some work here and when he mentioned that there was a need for the delivery unit, we said we can help for the people to benefit from the machine,” he noted.

Mr. Tepeli also explained that TUDEC stands for people development, hence the organization is trying to meet the needs of humanity anywhere in the country and that the gesture forms part of the numerous activities lined up by the organization to impact the lives of vulnerable people in the Country.

On his part, Officer in-Charge Colonel Alidu Salifu, of the Dental Division of the hospital, on behalf of the Commander of the 37 Military hospital, Brigadier General Azumah Bugri expressed his gratitude to TUDEC and its partners for the kind gesture and assured that the machine would be put to good use for the ultimate benefits of patients who patronizes the services of the hospital.

“The portable dental units are very important to dentistry; we are so happy that TUDEC with their President is here today together with the Directors to donate this very important equipment to the division. And we promise to put it to good use for the benefit of the patients, hospital and everybody. We want to thank you for this generous donation,” he added.

A Dentist and Public Relations Officer of TUDEC, Dr. Kamel Karim Mohammed, explained that though every dental chair comes with a dental delivery unit, what the organization is donating is portal and movable to even render services to patients outside the dental wards.

He further asserted that, the portable Dental Unit will still be useful to the Dental Clinic anytime the delivery unit that comes with the dental chair is out of order. He also affirms that the Portable Dental Unit makes every procedure easier for the dentist at the clinic and very instrumental in dental surgeries too.

Dr. Karim Mohammed further revealed that plans are far advanced to donate some face shields to the medical officers at the 37 Millitary Hospital and that TUDEC will continue to support health care facilities to offer best services to their clients throughout the country.

In the same vein, Dr. Nabril Nuamah, a surgical consultant and a Director TUDEC explained that TUDEC is on a mission to impact the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian and that the organization has done a lot of humanitarian activities which includes donation of medical items, organization of medical outreaches, supporting needy organizations-orphanages and digging of boreholes across the country.

He also revealed that TUDEC has donated some surgical items to the 37 Millitary hospital in the past and that the current support for the Dental Division forms part of donations to various medical institutions in the country to help deliver better healthcare to the Ghanaian citizenry.
