Two fetish priests denied bail over Offinso murder case
Okomfo Amankwaa and Akua Asantewaa were arrested by the police on Sunday, July 14, 2024, on suspicion of killing one Opanin Augustine Amponsah in an alleged gold deal.
The Offinso High court has denied two fetish priests, Nana Akwasi Amankwaa and Akua Asantewaa bail despite pleading not guilty to charges of murder leveled against them.
Okomfo Amankwaa and Akua Asantewaa were arrested by the police on Sunday, July 14, 2024, on suspicion of killing one Opanin Augustine Amponsah in an alleged gold deal.
It’s recalled on July 14 that, the deceased Opanin Amponsah went to the fetish priest to seek for assistance to uproot some gold.
The suspected murderer, Okomfo Akwasi Amankwaa, allegedly offered the deceased a chicken meat and soup suspected to be poisoned.
The Offinso District Court upon hearing the case on August 02, 2024, remanded the two fetish priests into police custody two weeks to reappear on August 16.
The court has also charged the police to thoroughly investigate the matter.
Meanwhile, lawyers of the accused filed application seeking to get bail but the Offinso High Court has denied them.
