U/E: Prisoner escapes from lawful custody in Tongo

The Police in Upper East Region has announced that a prisoner has escaped from lawful custody at Tongo, in the region.

The Police said in a situational report on Tuesday May 17 that available personnel have been dispatched to assist in the search for the escapees.

On 15/05/2022 at 1920 hours, No 4588 PW /Sgt Lariba Abilba, the last out counter NCO, No 59622 G/Const Kichekpa ju Napoleon Banu, the station orderly and No 12124 PW /const Ntiamoah Elizabeth as charge office guard jointly reported that, whiles on duty at the charge office, they heard the cell inmates namely, Fawas Musah, a juvenile remand prisoner, Francis Dabang a suspect in a defilement case and Kwojo Dinaya, suspect in a stealing case singing praises and worship but after a while the cell became quiet and when the counter NCO went to inspect the cell, the prisoners had removed a block out of the cell wall in the bathroom and to her dismay, the aforementioned inmates had escaped from lawful custody.

Meanwhile available personnel have been dispatched to assist in the search for the escapees.
