Updates on the Gyaasehene Adu Kwaku II Stolen Stool case at Boso-Gua
New developments have emerged in the case of the stolen stool which occurred some months ago at Boso in the Eastern Region where the Gyaasehene of the area caused the arrest of some people including Abusuapanin Kwadjo Odame Danso, Clement Osafo, Abusuapanin Agya Mensah, and others as culprits, ghananewsonline.com.gh has reliably gathered.
At the last but one sitting on July 5, 2021, the Gyaasehene Adu Kwaku II indicated to the Magistrate that he wanted the case referred from the Senchi Magistrate court to the Attorney General’s Department at Koforidua for arbitration. His reasons we gathered were that he has lost trust and does not believe that the justice due him would be served him at the court at Senchi.
In the meantime, the prime suspect, Yaw Acquah, who is the prime witness for the Gyaasehene is still at large.
It was based on this that the Magistrate at the Senchi Court the adjourned the case to August 2, 2021 for the hearing on the case on the referral. However, in court yesterday at Senchi, Nana Gyaasehene Adu Kwaku II did not show up in person. The prosecutor notified the court about a letter he had received from the Attorney General’s Department at Koforidua. The case was therefore adjourned again to Friday August 6, 2021 when the prosecutor is expected to produce the said letter in court.

Even before the sitting on August 2, the Gyaasehene had re-reported the same case to the regional police headquarters at Koforidua where another investigation had been restarted under the orders of one DCOP Akrofi.
Some persons who the Gyaasehene had earlier mentioned as suspects including Agya Akwaa the Asafoatse and a respected senior citizen of the community, Seth Akwaa, and Yaw Aduamah have all been recalled to appear at Koforidua to assist in the fresh investigations.
We are reliably informed that DCOP Akrofi of Koforidua is a family friend of the Gyaasehene Adu Kwaku II – they both lived at Nsawam in their youthful days. The accused persons at Boso are reported to be agitated by this revelation and are therefore refusing to cooperate with the DCOP Akrofi.
They feel that justice will not be served them if the case is taken up by an alleged friend of the Gyaasehene. In their comments, they indicated that they would be convinced if a neutral body is set up, preferably by the IGP should the Ghana Police Service insist on playing any mediation role in the case. They think that the matter which involves stools and chiefs would be efficiently handled by the Regional House of Chiefs and not by the Police Service at Koforidua.
More disturbingly, we have gathered after speaking to some elders of the Boso-Gua community that the same Gyaasehene Adu Kwaku II has reported the new Omanhene, Okotuasuo Nyarko Yeboah III to the regional Police headquarters at Koforidua. He is reported to have accused him of being an ungazetted chief which he considers a crime that should merit an arrest and prosecution by the police. Subsequently, the police have again invited the Omanhene to come to their offices for questioning.
Our information is that many of the indigenes of Boso-Gua are not enthused by the situation now in their community.
In the interest of peace in this beautiful community, the people are calling for urgency and prudency while urging the police to act with caution.
“Some of these approaches may lead to disruptions that may not auger well for our community and the country as a whole,” one of the natives stated.
The Gyaasehene seems to be entangled in one court case after the other at Boso. Our checks indicate that he is the chief architect in the ongoing Odweegyi case which involves Nana Osei Nyarko III versus Sloopy Mike Gyamfi, Nana Agyeman Boahia Kumnipa II the Krontihene and Opare Obissaw, Head of the NCBC, all of Boso.
That case which is also at the Koforidua High Court has been adjourned to November 4, 2021. In this case, however, Gyaasehene Adu Kwaku II openly supports Nana Osei Nyarko III’s claims of ownership of the Odweegyi festival at Boso. He once placed a court injunctions on its celebration.
