Use Technology to Transform Ghana – IT Community tells Govt.
Technologists have called on the government to include ICT and the use of Technology in the next budget. They believe the budget allocation will enable sector thrive.
The Microsoft User Group Ghana is a community group focusing on the uses of technology to develop the county. Technology Group is calling for a collaborative effort in making technology as one of the core sectors in the country. They are also calling on government to invest heavily ICT in the various educational institutions in Ghana.
Empirically, technology started decades but advances of Science and Technology started since 1945. Developed countries like United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, japan, Germany and Western European have used the technological advancement to develop their country from automobile, business, transportation, communication, and industrialisation.
Ghana-based Information Technology (IT) professional, Mr Abou Conde who won best Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award and some Ghanaians IT experts believe Africa countries including Ghana is yet to adopt the use of Technology in Africa. Though Ghana is making strides in this area, much still needs to be done. Experts in the field believe that Ghana can go far if policy makers make available fund to the sector.
According to Cyhna Lena Williams, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Mapping expert said data collection system in Ghana is not encouraging. She added that Ghana can go far if policy makers make available fund to the sector.
