Purpose
Newmont Porcupine Gold Mines is looking for a skilled Electrician to join our team at the Hoyle mine site. The successful applicant must have worked in an industrial environment.
Essential Duties
Safety Expectations
- Responsible for their health and safety
- Correct and report unsafe practices and conditions
- Maintain a safe and healthful workplace
- Make suggestions to improve any aspect of safety
- Follow all Newmont Porcupine safety policies and procedures
Essential Duties
- Responsible for troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and performing predictive and preventive maintenance on underground and instrumentation equipment.
- Responsible for compliance with OHSA, Corporate and Porcupine Environmental Regulations, Safety and Sustainability Standards and the Electrical Safety Authority
- Responsible to work collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals both within the department and cross-department
- Must be highly motivated, organized, and must be capable of decision-making
- Responsible for providing own tools
- Assisting in other works areas may be required
- Available to work Dayshift and Nightshift

Training & Experience
- Must hold an Ontario Construction and Maintenance or Industrial Electrician License; 309A or 442A
- Familiar with underground communication systems
- Understand networking, fiber optics, remote control technologies, PLC’s/ DCS and
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and written skills
- High level of organizational skill
- Be technically competent
- Willing to learn
- Able to listen
- Comfortable working alone
- Underground experience is an asset
Working Conditions
- This position is part of the Hoyle Underground Maintenance team located at our Porcupine Mine Site near Timmins, ON.
- In this role, you will work a 5x5x4 schedule. As such, if you do not live near the mine site, we will require relocation.
