Victory Speech: Chairman Asiedu Nketia extends Olive branch to Ofosu-Ampofo and other defeated Candidates
He said their defeat is not one in actual sense but an indication that the party needs them to serve in other capacities.
Newly elected National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has extended an olive branch to all defeated candidates in the just-ended National Delegates Congress of the party.
He said their defeat is not one in actual sense but an indication that the party needs them to serve in other capacities.
He promised that all human resource deployment to be made by his administration will definitely include these candidates, who only missed out on securing the votes of delegates.
Mr Asiedu Nketia was speaking after defeating incumbent Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in the national executive elections held as part of the Congress on Saturday, December 17.
Thanking delegates in his victory speech, the erstwhile General Secretary made especial mention of his closest contender and former boss, Mr Ofosu Ampofo, vowing to keep their friendship of a quarter-century and not sacrifice it over the contest.
“I will like to thank most importantly Hon Samuel Ofosu Ampofo who has been my friend for 25 years,” Mr Asiedu Nketia said.
“I value the friendship so I don’t think we are going to sacrifice that friendship because of this contest.”
He has promised to take the contest on to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) even if it will be at the cost of his life.
