Video: Council of State election: One arrested for causing chaos

The Anti Robbers unit of the Ghana Police Service have arrested an individual who tried to cause confusion at the election premises in the ongoing polls in the Ashanti Region.

The incident happened when the police told the media who had no EC accreditation to stand at one point while ordering the supporters of the various candidates to go behind an area that has been marked as a security zone.

Not enthused about the order of the police the suspect exchanged words that Daily Guide cannot ascertain to.the police.

Others joined the man to rain insults at the security personnel, attracting many people to the scene.

Another man in a smock joined the suspect by throwing punches at the policemen.

In trying to control the situation, other policemen around joined their colleagues to arrest the suspect in a waiting Toyota Hilux with registration number UW 255- 22 to the Ashanti Regional command of the Ghana Police Service.

The election of the Ashanti Regional representative of the council of state member has been moved from the Regional Coordinating Council to the Prempeh Assembly hall at Asem after last Tuesday’s polls were disrupted by some machomen who were alleged to be aligned with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Swiftnews3.com can attest that today’s security situation at the election centre has been improved, unlike that of last week where the police present stood aloof while some journalists were brutalized by some thugs.

Officials of some Electoral Commissioners were so assaulted while ballot papers and ballot boxes belonging to EC were also destroyed.
