The Vintage Gala, a rising event dedicated to supporting young entrepreneurs and fashion enthusiasts, is quickly becoming a favorite platform for showcasing creative talent. Held four times a year, the event offers emerging fashion designers and business owners a space to promote their unique styles and ideas.

The latest edition, hosted at Legon City Mall, drew a large crowd of fashion lovers, especially from the nearby University of Ghana. Despite many students being busy with exams, the event saw impressive attendance, with some speculating that participation could have been even greater had the exams not been in session. Vendors presented a wide range of products, including trending sneakers, personal clothing brands, and engaging activities like gaming centers for FIFA lovers and an arcade-style basketball hoop. Refreshments, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, added to the lively atmosphere.

 

One sneaker vendor, attending the event for the first time, shared that he had only heard about the Vintage Gala from a friend who had attended previous editions. To his surprise, he exceeded his sales expectations and praised the event’s potential for promoting the ideas of other entrepreneurs in his field.

Similarly, a vendor selling homemade drinks like sobolo and iced tea expressed satisfaction with her sales. As a first-timer, she was pleased to meet new customers beyond her usual campus-based clientele. “This is my first time here, and I am meeting more people than before. I also make the drinks myself, so I’m happy they like them,” she shared.

 

A notable observation at the event was the presence of many vendors who operate primarily online, such as Foose Plug, a thrift store that started on Instagram in 2021 and has grown into a well-known secondhand clothing and accessory business. They now have a physical store in Adjringanor, reflecting the blend of online and in-person sales strategies used by many young entrepreneurs. Social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat serve as key tools for vendors to reach their audiences and facilitate sales, with some offering delivery services for customers who place orders online. A few vendors, like Soles and Soles Ventures, also maintain physical shops.
