Visuals For Gender Holds 3rd Workshop
Visuals for Gender has held its third (3rd) workshop to train Civil Society Organizations (CEO’s) Non – Governmental Organizations, (NGO’s) and Journalists on its “Data for Gender Based Violence Advocacy” project in Accra after its launch.
The project which is sponsored by the US Embassy in Ghana is aimed at training CSO’s, NGO’s and Journalists in the use of Simple tools for data visualization, telling data driven stories which is useful in their advocacy work.
It is also aimed at educating girls in Junior High Schools (JHS’s) on Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR).
It is again aimed at training teachers with the requisite skills in dealing with sexual violence issues of their students.
Addressing participants at the workshop, the Director of Mobile Ghana who is also the CEO of Visuals for Gender, Mrs. Florence Toffa stressed the need for participants to put what they had learnt into practice.
She challenged them to use the simple tools they had been trained on for data analysis, visualization and story telling, which according to her would help them in their advocacy work.
Mrs. Toffa again encouraged them to be innovative, adding that it was through her Mobile Web Ghana initiative that Visuals for Gender was born.
The participants expressed joy for the opportunity given them to take part in the “Data for Gender-Based Violence Advocacy” training.
