Voice of Ave Dakpa reacts to Concerns from Gawokpornu Family
"The attention of the directors of Voice of Ave Dakpa has been drawn to the fact that the administrator of our WhatsApp Media page, Mr Godwin Ayisu was illegally running the page as a media house.
A non-governmental organization (NGO) Voice of Ave Dakpa (VOA) has issued a statement in response to some concerns raised by the Gawokpornu family of Ave Dakpa in the Akatsi North District of the Volta region.
The aggrieved family had earlier issued a warning to the directors of the NGO that it would take legal actions against the organization, following accusations of using its platforms to churn out falsehood against the family, inciting the public and also causing disaffection among the people of Ave Dakpa and the traditional authorities.
The family accused the organization of allowing the administrator of its WhatsApp Media page, Godwin Ayisu, popularly known as ‘Migbloefaa’ to use the platform to disgrace, embarrass, denigrate, demean and frustrate the Gawokpornu family on countless occasions without any provocation.
“We caused a due diligence check to be conducted on the platform and found out that the platform is registered as an NGO and not a media house and there is nothing on record that Godwin Ayisu is even an employee of the NGO – We are surprised that you gave such a person the authority to misbehave and grossly infringe on the rights and privacy of people with impunity – we cannot bear the humiliation any longer,” head of the Gawokpornu family, Mawuli Yao Dzorkpata wrote in a statement.
In response, the Voice of Ave Dakpa (VOA) issued a statement apologizing to the Gawokpornu family, emphasizing that it did not grant authority to it’s administrator or any other person for that matter to use it’s WhatsApp platform for any such activities and that the platform, Voice of Ave Dakpa (VOA) was duly registered as an NGO for the purposes of community engagement and development.
“The attention of the directors of Voice of Ave Dakpa has been drawn to the fact that the administrator of our WhatsApp Media page, Mr Godwin Ayisu was illegally running the page as a media house. We wish to make it categorically clear to all residents of Ave Dakpa as legitimate directors (John-Dalton Ahiale and Savior Bedzra) of the NGO that we did not grant authority to any individual to use the VOA WhatsApp Media page as a media house or to attack the people of Ave Dakpa, insult or disgrace traditional authorities,” the statement read in part.
It added that the NGO will send a delegation to the Gawokpornu family to discuss how best to resolve the issue amicably in the interest of peace.
