He cited that, these processes constitute a peaceful election every year.

“It is the most complex and expensive component of the electoral process and it involves identifying which citizens are eligible to vote and producing a list of register of voters for use on polling day”.

Mr. Samuel Tettey further reiterated that all activities by the commission are guided by the legal framework, however, the institution does not take decisions on its own without referring to the 1992 constitution.

He cautioned that foreigners and persons under age 18 should desist from going to any polling station to cast their vote or attempt to include their names in the list.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council, George Amu announced measures taken by the council to ensure peaceful elections.

He highlighted that the council will organize a peace pact for all political parties of which candidates are to commit and abide by the code of conduct.

He hinted that these peace pacts will also be organised in constituencies that have difficulties in terms of elections and educate them on the need and impact of peaceful elections on a country.
