W/R: GAF confirms Helicopter emergency landing; begins investigation

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), has confirmed that its helicopter with registration number GHF 696 was involved in an emergency landing on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Bonsukrom near Agona Nkwanta in the Western Region of Ghana.

According to a statement released by GAF, there were 21 passengers on board, including staff of Ghana National Gas Company as well as the aircrew.

It explained that the incident happened whiles they were on duty for a routine inspection of the Atuabo Gas Plant.

However, GAF stated that there was fatalities, as all 21 passengers have been evacuated and undergoing medical check up.

“All passengers on board have been accounted for and there were no fatalities. However, they have been evacuated and are currently undergoing routine medical checkup,” part of the statement read.

Meanwhile they added that “preliminary assessments have commenced to ascertain the cause of the incident.”
