Wa/Bole killings: Concerned chiefs of the north demand immediate action by government, stakeholders

The Concerned Chiefs of the North (CCN-Ghana) have Condemned the recent Killings in Wa Municipality in the Upper West Region and Bole District in the Savannah Region.

In a statement, the Concerned Chiefs said, they are deeply disturbed by the recent spate of targeted killings.

“We condemn in the strongest terms these senseless and brutal acts of violence that have resulted in the loss of precious lives, and we express our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and call on the security agencies to intensify their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice,” they said.

The statement urged the government and the security to take action.

“We urge the government to take immediate and decisive action to address the security concerns in these regions and ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.”

“We also call on the traditional authorities, religious leaders, and civil society organizations to join forces in condemning these heinous crimes and promoting peace and unity in our communities,” they urged.

The recent murders in Wa bring the number of persons killed in the municipality to 17 in the last 3 years, while Bole District recorded 21 in the last two years.

The last two killings in both areas have the throats of the deceased cut.

Security deployment and ransom

The police administration has beefed up security in the Wa Municipality and Bole Districts.

In the case of Wa municipal, the Wa Central MP, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, announced a GH¢100,000 bounty for anyone who provides information for the arrest of the perpetrators.
