We Have Rescued 7 Forest Reserves Hijacked by Galamsey Miners-Hon Armah Kofi Buah

Hon. Armah Buah made the revelation at a news conference held in Accra jointly on Wednesday by the sector Ministry and Ministry of Environment.

Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has revealed that the Ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology and the military has taken back seven (7) forest reserve which were taken over by illegal miners.

He said the Ministry is poised and close to taking over the remaining two reserves annexed by the ‘galamseyers’.

Hon. Armah Buah made the revelation at a news conference held in Accra jointly on Wednesday by the sector Ministry and Ministry of Environment.

“I am proud to inform you that we have taken back seven out of the 9 forest reserves taken by the Miners.
We are close to taking back our forest reserve”, the Minister maintained.

He gave the assurance that the Ministry is working day and night with support from Armed forces to ensure that mining is done responsibly and sustainably to the benefit our people.

On his part, the Minister for environment, Science and Technology Hon. Murtala Mohammed appealed to the media to prioritize the fight against galamsey stressing that the galamsey fight is a multi-faceted, hence must be fought by all.

He later expressed his Ministry’s commitment to support MLNR clamp down on illegal miners.
