We lack investors; Our structures are weak – Skrewfaze

“Our structures here are weak. I know our leaders up there are trying, but if you look at the creative arts in Nigeria, it can’t be compared to Ghana. They support each other. It’s not like that here, there’s no unity here. That’s our problem, we are not one, and we love to fight each other instead of pushing ourselves. We love to downplay everything. Even the gatekeepers are downplaying us. We are not there yet.”

Ghanaian musician Jehosephat Eshun, known in showbiz circles as Skrewfaze, has expressed worry over industry gatekeepers’ inability to build support structures in the creative industry.

In an interview with Nana Yaw Gyebi, host of Adwumapa Mbre on Connect 97.1FM, Skrewfaze complained bitterly about how some colleagues and industry players demean their craft as an artiste.

Asked how the situation can be curbed, the musician explained that governmental support is crucial to industrial growth.

“We have to check our structures first. We also need the government to invest in art and culture. I’m not talking about music alone. I mean the whole creative arts industry and filmmaking. We need investors then we can think of the way forward. If we dont get investors, we will do what we can do, but it’s just a little. So if we need good structures to attract investors,” he added.

Skrewfaze hinted at releasing a new single before the year ends.
