Cocoa farmers in the Western Region are calling on the government to raise the cocoa price from GH₵2,700 to GH₵6,000 for the 2024/2025 season, which begins in October. This demand is based on the need to align the local price with global market values.

At a press conference held at the Tarkwa Community Centre, Nana Boakye Thomas, the Huni Valley District Chief Farmer, expressed frustration over what he described as government neglect. He highlighted that the pension scheme for cocoa farmers, promised decades ago, remains unimplemented, leaving many without financial security.
