Why Ghana’s Aggression on Western Togoland must stop now
On July 6, 2020, the Secretary-General of the Peoples Liberation Council (PLC) of Western Togoland, Mr. Divine Odonkor was arrested at Ho district Assembly when he went there to do official business.
He was denied the right to family and relatives as well as attorney. Even his health rights were taken at this COVID-19 pandemic time, as all the health and protocol measures were not considered.
He was arraigned before court a day after his arrest without his lawyers.
On the STATEMENT OF OFFENCE, it was stated that “PROHIBITION OF THE PEOPLES LIBERATION COUNCIL OF WESTERN TOGOLAND; CONTRARY TO SECTION 1 AND 2 OF THE PROHIBITED ORGANIZATION DECREE, 1976 SMCD 20.”
It is beyond reason that Military Decrees are being used in this constitutional era.
This is an affront to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which has abolished the use of decrees and frees all human beings to be treated equally in accordance with the constitution.
Ghana has overstepped her boundaries and as well as stepped on the last nerves of the people of Western Togoland.
We have tolerated Ghana’s aggression on the good people of Western Togoland for far too long, and it is time we sound the warning that their continues harassments may lead to a situation that is irreparable.
We demand that the Secretary-General of the Peoples Liberation Council be released now without any hitch. Any attempt to suppress the Western Togoland restoration will meet the uproar of the people.
Attached is the charge sheet.

Thank you.
