Why Ketu South Assembly can’t have a Presiding Member, until the beginning of Next Term

The Ketu South Municipal Assembly is finally left without a presiding member (PM) to fully drive the house’ business agenda.
The assembly Members for the third time failed to elect into office a new Presiding Member to fill the vacancy left by the former presiding member Wisdom Petite Haligah, who’s appointment was revoked prior to the confirmation of the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Maxwell Kofi Luvudor.
Despite, the Assembly witnessing unopposed elections from among the honorable members by pushing forward Hon Edward Gbeti who was among the four nominees who contested in the first and second round elections in which he polled the highest vote.
On Monday November 8, the Assemblymen of Ketu South were dismayed for not electing into office their PM when one of the contestants, Collins Ababio Gakli, stepped down to allow Edward Gbeti to run unopposed as their presiding member, so he can end the term of the fomer PM.
Edward Gbeti however failed to obtain the required two-thirds majority votes of 59 members of the House. He pulled 33 Yes votes and 21 No votes and 2 rejected.
In an interview with the former presiding member, Doe Patti Haligah, who is as the constituncy chairman for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), he said since the honorable members of the house have failed to utilize the chance they had, to elect into office Edward Gbeti as the presiding member (PM), Ketu South will be without PM till his term ends.
