You’ll not escape responsibility for the economic mess – Mahama to NPP
The NDC 2024 flagbearer criticised Vice President Mahamadu Bawumia, who heads the Economic Management Team, for trying to distance himself from the “irresponsible and clueless” management of the economy.
Former President John Mahama did not hold back during his Building Ghana Tour of the Northern region, pointing fingers at the current government for the economic crisis in the country.
He emphasised that no one in the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia-led government would escape responsibility for the mess.
Mahama emphasised that his government in 2016 left a healthy and vibrant economy for the current administration, contrary to their propaganda. He presented verifiable facts and figures to support his claims, citing his government’s success in keeping the GDP-to-debt ratio at 57%, compared to the NPP’s 103%.
He also highlighted his government’s solutions to the energy crisis and the introduction of funds to address debts in the sector.

Mahama urged the people to reject the New Patriotic Party in the 2024 polls and expressed confidence in the NDC’s ability to revitalise the economy. The former president’s strong words and confident demeanour left the audience with much to think about as Ghana prepares for the upcoming election.
