A political group, “Nogsenia Youth Alliance (NYA) for Sampson” has spelt out reasons why they believe Mr. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia would make a better Member of Parliament (MP) for the Navrongo Central Constituency.
The group has declared total support for Mr Chiragia who will be contesting the Navrongo Central Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to a statement jointly signed signed by Abubakar Siddiq and Charles Ayipah, President and Secretary to the group respectively, and copied to Opera News on Tuesday, the group says their support to Mr Chiragia is based on their analysis and realization that Mr Chiragia is the only hope for the youth of the area.
“We have observed from afar all the political players in the Navrongo Central Constituency and we have decided based on certain unimpeachable factors to fully rally behind Mr. Sampson Tangombu Chiragia (STC) of the NDC, as the only hope for the youth,” the statement noted.
They described Mr Chiragia as someone who has never held a political appointment but has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubts that he can be well trusted by the youth of Navrongo.
“He has paid school fees for several students ranging from first degree to masters level, paid for several hospital bills for the vulnerable, constructed several boreholes, arranged for jobs for people, just to mention a few,” they further noted.
They assessed that Sampson is also worthy of praise for being a grassroot politician, affable, humble and a dynamic maverick politician who is accessible to all manner of people.
“We strongly believe he is the redeemer of modern Navrongo and we deem it fit for us to rally behind him so we can radically revolutionize and transform Navrongo.
“Some of our members who were originally supporters of NPP left their party because they have been disappointed in the ineptitude of the NPP. NPP is a deceptive, desperate and a nepotistic party. Through their lofty promises like one district one factory, we thought we would have all secured decent jobs; but as we speak there is not even land procured for the factory in the district.
“Under this perilous times where the Corona virus is currently ravaging the whole globe, STC has contributed enormously towards the containment of this dreadful virus. He has sponsored health professionals to go on radio stations to educate people about the novel Corana virus, distributed veronica buckets to various youth groups, sponsored health professionals to sensitize people on personal hygiene in our markets, donated PPE to WAR Memorial Hospital and all the health centres/CHPS compounds in the municipality.
They have plans to embark on rigorous door-to-door campaign, organise free extra classes for students within the constituency, organize clean-up exercises and floats among others so as to enhance the electoral fortunes of Mr. Chiragia and the NDC.
The ‘NYA for Sampson’ is a group of young people who believe in social and economic justice for the teaming youth. Membership is made up of the youth of the various spheres of the political divide in the Navrongo Central Constituency.
Last week the group made donations to women groups, fish mongers, rice sellers, among other vulnerable groups of people in the society. They used the occasion to call on all well meaning youth of Navrongo Central Constituency to support Sampson Chiragia so as to see development in the area.
