An office complex of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) was on Saturday August 11, commissioned for Klottey Korle Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
The office which is situated at Osu-Alata would serve as a Secretariat of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituent to have personal interaction with her and also share their concerns for the constituency.
The commissioning of the MP Secretariat was preceded by a Unity Health Walk led by the MP for the constituency, Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings.
The walk started from Asylum-down roundabout through Adabraka-Farisco Traffic Central MTTU, Tudu, Kinbu, EOCO office, 28th February Road, Castle junction and ended at the Secretariat.
Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwah, MP for North Tongu, Mr Solomon Nkansah, National Communication Officer, Ms Sherry Ayittey, former Minister for Health, Constituency executives, some regional executive aspirants, among others participated in the Unity Health Walk.
Addressing the constituent before the official commissioning of the Secretariat,, Dr Zanetor, told the teeming crowd of party supporters and members that she better use the MPs Common Funds on the provision of the needs of the constituent than to build a big office.
She said, as small as the Secretariat is, it would serve the purpose and assured the constituent of her determination to bring development closer to them.
The MP said, the office would enable her to stay in touch with the constituents, help in new membership drive and also position the party in the constituency towards victory in next elections.
Going into election 2020, Dr Zanetor called for unity among members of the NDC fraternity as the elections would not be won on a silver platter stressing that, there was the need for them to also know the values and ideals of the party and stand behind such values at all time.
She reminded the party executives of the task ahead of them and urged them to work extra hard as a team to enable the party retain the seat which described as a “a swing seat”.
“I want to call on all of us to remain united, we must be united and work hard as we did over the year. We must retain this seat for the party. This is the time. We must not fail the people of Ghana,” she stated.
The Klotteh Korle lawmaker further dvised the members of the NDC to guard against petty squabbles and co-operate to move the party forward, stating the regional election is not do or die affair and urged aspirants to avoid abusive words and character assignations among each other.
Mr Harry Zakour, former Constituency Chairman expressed impressed about the initiative of Dr Zanetor with a befitting Secretariat,nothing that, it would go a long way to improve the fortunes of the party in the constituency.
Other speakers including former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, former Minister of Health, Ms Sherry Ayittey, former Ambassador Madam Molly Anin-Addo, took turns to advise the constituents to remained united and rally behind the MP to delver.
Nii Laryea Afotey, who is also MP for Kpone-Katamanso, described Dr Zanetor as a courageous MP and charged the constituent to give her their support.
He also advised regional executive aspirants and members to work hard for the party to come back to power in 2020.
