Zongo Youth Urged to shun political Violence and Embrace Peace

The youth in various Zongos urged to embrace peace against political violence in the upcoming general elections in other not to put the reputation of the Zongo communities into a disrepute.
Salufu Basiru, author of two new Book dubbed Evolution of politics in Kumasi zongos and Second Marriage, which is aimed at addressing the true intriguing Marriage stories in the Zongo communities concerning second marriages and divorce.
Speaking the launching of the two Books, he reminded zongo youth of supporting political parties base on their policies to especially addressing the economic challenges facing the Zongo communities.
According to him, it’s long overdue for the youth in the zongos to stand against political parties that forment troubles in an elections period, and entreated them not to allow themselves to be use by any politician from the political parties for their political parochial interest and dump them after achieving their aim.
Salufu Basiru explained that, the launching of the two great research books titled Evolution of Politics in Kumasi Zangos and Second Marriage explained why it is very important to know the history of Zango and must be told by the people of Zangos.
He noted that the significant contribution of thei passed chiefs and imams who played a vital role in politics during the UP and CPP era by sharing their ideas in kind and in cash had brought about many developments to the communities, and the need to follow their steps and make politics attractive for the future generation.
He made mention of their names for their significant contribution to the development of Zango and to their people which includes Alhaji Amadu Baba, Mallam Muntawakil,M .B Sulemana, Alufa Ladan, Sarkin fawa Saidu, and Mallam sallau of blessed memories.
He disclosed that Evolution of Politics in Kumasi Zangos, a book that is intended to help strengthen our democracy, improve and enhance politics and to do away with the bad politics of insults, violence, name calling and brutalization among the indigenes of Zangos.
According to him, it is imperative to comprehend politics in the Zangos communities of Kumasi in this 21st century, adding that it is obvious that their community and the youth of Zango are now actively involved in politics, but the development or benefits is nothing to write home about.
He stressed that the youth who allow themselves to be use by the politicians are neglected in the decision-making process after engaging them.
He expressed the view that Islam should come first before politics, because Zango is a Muslim dominated community, and tasked them to embrace and do away with political differences after elections and support the winning candidate irrespective of the political color to lobby and bring developmental projects to the people of Zangos rather than the deforming others and pulling him down syndrome.
He entreated them not to allow politicians to build boundaries between Muslims but demand accountability from the politicians.
He noted that zongos in Kumasi need development to close the gap of developing the Communities with infrastructures like Islamic hospitals, schools, and scholarships to the brilliant youth.
According to him, his research on the book called, second marriage discovered that, there is no data that shows how many of their marriages had ended up in divorce.
He said Marriage and divorce is/are another topic that need to take a second look at, and introduce some Islamic reforms that conforms with the Quran, Hadith and the sunnah of the beloved prophet Mohammed S.A.W, to address the growing number of divorces within the Communities.
He indicated that the Islamic scholars and the chiefs need to have dialogue on the issue of divorce, as the book had provided some recommendations.
He appeal to the Zongo communities chiefs, imams, opinion leaders, the diaspora and politicians to establish a Zongo scholarship or educational fund to help the needy but brilliant students of the community.
Alhaji Yusif Amadu Madugu Wazirin Zongo Ashanti as guest of honour tasked the youth to package themselves well enable them make an informed decisions for themselves in lives.
He urged them to disagree but agree in certain things to help transform their fortunes positively.
He also reminded them to be fully prepared before getting into marriage, because their responsibility to keep their spouse secrets , clothes, protect their wives, gives them shelter and feed them.
Abdul-Mumen general manager of Haske fm and reviewer of the Books disclosed that the Book dubbed Second Marriage highlighted on the importance of marriage and causes of divorce as lack of effective communication, deception and peer pressure are the causes of most divorce, and advice them to marry when they are ready but must be ready faster.
He disclosed that before one get into marriage there is the need to understand one another and seek for counseling for at least six months to one year and expecting not too much in marriage.
