GhanaNewsOnline.com.gh has learned that workers of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, responsible for cleaning towns in the Juaboso and Bodi Districts of the Western North Region, have not received their monthly salaries for over eleven months.

According to sources, the company owed its workers approximately Ten months of back pay last year. Just before Christmas 2023, workers were paid for only three of these months, despite promises that all arrears would be cleared. Some employees reported that their already meager monthly salary of GH¢400 was effectively reduced, as they were given a lump sum of only GH¢1,500 without further explanation.

In 2024, the situation has not improved, with workers still not receiving any salary payments. They continue to perform their duties as outlined in their contracts but are struggling with a lack of basic working tools, such as brooms, collectors and dustbin.

Efforts to obtain a response from Zoomlion management in the districts have been unsuccessful. When our reporters visited the company’s offices in Juaboso, they found the premises locked and unattended.

The affected workers are therefore calling for immediate action to resolve their payment issues and improve their working conditions.
