Zumzum: Say No to Agyapa deal, and save Ghana Now!

Agyapa Deal// I hesitate to reason with those who still defend and promote Nana Addo led maladministration – the varied murderous sins committed which Agyapa Royalties deal is a part of. Ah, are they defending just because they’re NPP sympathizers or footsoldiers? Do they know the repercussions of their actions? Or could their act be born out of ignorance?

I will advise them to revise their opinion after reading this piece.

Who are the future generations? In simple terms the generations who are meeting non-existent of our natural resources. So , the question is, could they survive without our natural resources?

That’s why in all our engagements in the name of the citizenry, the socio-economic development of this nation must be prioritized. And the security of our future generations must be secured. Anything less than this then we’re not cutting any good picture down for our future generations.

Having said that, is our public debt management plans sustainable? Especially with the speeds at which Nana Addo is borrowing?

Directive Principles of state policy?

The following are all provisions enshrined in our 1992 constitution under the directive principles of state policy. For which Nana Addo has woefully failed in all.

(a) foster a spirit of loyalty to Ghana that overrides sectional, ethnic and other loyalties;

Scorecard: zero

(b) achieve reasonable regional and gender balance in recruitment and appointment to public offices;

Scorecard: Zero,..

I quote Prof Jane Naana “Diversity is a source of great strength. Whether you are GA, MFANTSE, SISALI, EWE, GONJA, ASANTE, NZEMA, MAMPRUSI, or any other ethnic group, you are valued as a Ghanaian. You have every right to walk with confidence, with a high resolve to make huge contributions to this nation”

Instead, today, divide and rule is the order of the day – when one is not an Akyem you’re not part of the nation? How despicable!

c) As far as practicable, a government shall continue and execute projects and programmes commenced by the previous Governments.

Scorecard: zero,. Mr. JOHN Mahama’s projects were left to rot in the bush; we’re talking about the hospital projects, affordable housing units, the E-blocks, the water expansion projects, the community centers, the roads discontinued,..and so on and so forth. Indeed, it took covid19 for the University of Ghana medical center & bank of Ghana hospital to be opened for use,..

I ask, where is the value for money here? And, why is Nana Addo treating Ghana this way! Is that how he’ll treat Ghana should Ghana be his company or family business?

(d) The State shall take steps to eradicate corrupt practices and the abuse of power.

Scorecard: zero, CORRUPTION is off the roof. We must call them out, they’re our servants and not the other way around.

(e) The state shall promote among the people of Ghana the culture of political tolerance

Scorecard: Zero

Non-existent projects?

I got terribly confused recently when Nana Addo led the government’s so-called projects were fact-checked by the NDC, JoyNews, and concerned citizens. What do they take us for? Most of the projects -affordable housing units, water projects, school projects, and others were non- existent.

Stealing and quadrupling projects?

Rotary club projects,

Pencil of promise school projects, MTN projects, among others was stolen and captured as government achievements.

As happened during the 2012 election petition hearing, the same thing was repeated here, as projects that won’t qualify for assembly members’ achievements but unit committee members’ achievements were doubled, even quadrupled to make up for the numbers, were touted as an achievement of the ruling government? Yes, I am referring to Urinals, weeding of roadsides, broken and abandoned poly tanks, KVIP toilets were all captured as achievements.

Ah, how do Nana Addo led government take Ghanaians for,..fools?

Why are we here?

In the 2016 elections, they promised heaven on earth, now delivering deception!

Virtually Corruption headquarters has been moved to Ghana.

So, don’t blame Ghanaians as they don’t feel enthused in filing their tax returns. Even the right to information act is just gathering dust as it’s laced with so many encumbrances. Where did we go wrong? I ask, is social democracy indeed meaningless on the pink sheet?

According to the 1992 constitution, maximum happiness must be provided to the citizenry. It made it clear the resources must be used for the benefit of the citizenry.

Parliament most recently in line with the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) Act, 2018 (Act 978), approved agreements to allow the country to derive maximum value from its mineral resources and monetize its mineral income accruing to the country in a sustainable and responsible manner.

Before one could finish talking about the missing GHC1.5 billion from Ghana’s oil funds Agyapa is here knocking!

Leveraging our mineral resources for 15 yrs, meanwhile, we have state-owned entity, Ghana Investment Infrastructure funds (GIIF) which could be used as Special Purpose Vehicle, (SPV) in playing same roles in raising the money Aana Addo led government wants to. To date the owners of Agyapa are shrouded in secrecy. All we know is Senior Minister, Osafo Maafo’s son is the one fronting for Agyapa.

Is mother Ghana safe? No!

“Agyapa deal is unconscionable”,..meaning morally unacceptable or bad deal,.. former attorney General, Gloria Akufo,..

We can’t take it anymore, especially if you have been around for as long as “baby boomers or X generations” have been, you would know that most of our problems came from this very lineage trying to leverage our Mineral royalties for 15 yrs. Their forebears opposed Ghana’s independence, indeed, Addo Danquah in particular served as CIA agent to the colonial masters – he monetizes our struggles for independence.

So, we know them very well – greed and selfishness is embedded in their DNA.

CONCLUSION:

Beloved, we’ve been neglected for so long, in the words of Prof Jane Naana – I quote-,” we must provide opportunities that transcend political patronage, ‘connection’ and the practice of whom- you- know. Equal and fair opportunities

based on merit are imperative for sustainable economic growth. The time for that shift is now.

The 21st century is nearly 20% over. We shouldn’t be here, as a country, living with inexcusable socio-economic development.”

For the past three and half years, we’ve borrowed over 140 billion excluding grants and other classified borrowings – and absolutely nothing to show for, yet we’re scheming to add more via Agyapa stinky deal.

Fellow Progressives, say No To Agyapa,..and Save Ghana Now!
