Group describes Mahama as a “scary alternative” for 2024 general elections:

Meanwhile, in a statement released on Monday while the press conference was ongoing, the Nationwide Supporters of Alan Cash (NAWSAC) criticized the NPP for allegedly attempting to bribe the youth to abandon their support for Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change and join the NPP.

A group of young politicians led by former NPP parliamentary candidate aspirant for Adentan, Alfred Ababio Kumi, have described the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former president John Dramani Mahama as a “scary alternative” going into the 2024 general elections.

The group numbering over 6,000 across the country had previously abandoned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to join Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change.

However at a press conference in Accra on Monday, April 22, 2024, the group admitted that leaving the NPP was a mistake and it was time to return and throw their weight behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“It has become evidently clear that we made a mistake; a mistake that we humbly admit and are ready to work to ensure that its dire effect is reversed or averted”.

According to the group, returning to the NPP and making sure Dr. Bawumia becomes the President is very necessary after carefully examining the policies set out by the NPP and Dr. Bawumia.

“Since the February 7, 2024 speech by the flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, we have been asking ourselves questions that bother on the future of this country and the very Ghana that we young people want. It has become unarguably clear, that amongst all the political leaders, Dr. Bawumia has so far been the one who has clearly articulated the Ghana story”.

Alfred Ababio Kumi also mentioned that “the National Democratic Congress, under the flagbearership of former President John Mahama, presents a plan for our country that raises concerns as we approach the 2024 general elections;” scary alternative” hence we cannot entrust Ghana to former President Mahama and therefore call on Ghanaians especially the youth to vote for the NPP and Dr. Bawumia.

The statement emphasized that the NPP and NDC shall no longer take the youth for granted and cannot buy the conscience of young people with their spoils of corruption.
