Siting of National Cathedral: Accra-Tema Motorway Plains beckons

I would have wished that it is the Christian community that is leading the realisation of this project

As a Christian, and one who does not approve of the dismemberment of the body of Christ through doctrinal differences, news of a national cathedral, which could occasionally bring believers together under one roof to fellowship was welcome news.

However, I have the following concerns:

1. I would have wished that it is the Christian community that is leading the realisation of this project;

2. That families would be displaced at cost to the state, through demolition of residences of public servants that are strategically sited for ease of commuting to their places of work is not something that our Master Jesus would have approved of;

3. I am very sure that like He always questioned the Pharisees and Sadducees, He would be asking our leaders if they could not see the landmass (plain) along the Accra-Tema Motorway, which is more than enough to host two Cathedrals, hospitality facilities and Car Parks for even continental events;

4. As a taxpayer, I think some of the costs associated with the current concept of the project, such as demolition of residential properties, construction for resettlements et cetera, are avoidable burdens to the tax payer;

Finally, I think the religious leaders spearheading this project must endeavour at all times to be guided by standards that Christ would approve.
