ABOFAB holds stakeholders meeting to outdoor 2024 programs

“ABOFAB, is an NGO that is helping a lot in the promotion of organic farming in the municipality. I am very pleased with this stakeholders meeting because we at the Department of Agriculture aim to promote organic farming in the Techiman South Municipality.

The Abrono Organic Farmers Project (ABOFAB), at Forikrom in the Techiman South Municipality of the Bono East region, has held its annual stakeholders meeting to present and gather feedback on the organization’s proposed programs and initiatives for the upcoming year.

The meeting, which brought together representatives from local farming communities, agricultural extension services, government agencies, and NGO partners, provided a platform for ABOFAB to share details of its 2024 strategy focused on expanding organic agriculture practices and improving food security.

ABOFAB Sales Officer, Mr. Baah Adams, in an interview with the media, said “our stakeholder meeting is a critical part of our annual planning process, it allows us to transparently share our vision and priorities, while also listening closely to the insights and concerns of those we serve through our organic farming projects”

“We plan to do a lot of nurseries since we intend to plant a lot of cashew, timbers, and mangoes, so we will do the nursery and give it to our farmers.

“We will conduct a program that will train farmers on how to use organic techniques in farming and we will also urge them to share the knowledge with other farmers, this program will last for 12 weeks. We have other livelihood alternatives such as beekeeping of which we will provide them with startup kits in beekeeping.” He told our reporter.

Mr. Baah Adams, further disclosed that ABOFAB will continue to serve the people of Techiman with their training and programs for the development of agriculture in Techiman, Bono East region and the country at large.

The Techiman South Municipal Director for the Department of Agriculture, Mr. Stephen Aidoo, lauded Abrono Organic Farmers Project (ABOFAB) for their massive support to farmers on organic farming.

He disclosed that, although inorganic farming is good, it however has some negative effects on our soil unlike the organic nature of farming.

“ABOFAB, is an NGO that is helping a lot in the promotion of organic farming in the municipality. I am very pleased with this stakeholders meeting because we at the Department of Agriculture aim to promote organic farming in the Techiman South Municipality.

“Inorganic farming is good but it has a long term effect on our lands so I will urge the farmers to make good use of today’s meeting, go into organic farming and approach us whenever the need arises because we are there for them.” Mr. Stephen Aidoo disclosed

Women organizer for ABOFAB, Madam Esther Boakye Yiadom, said these programs are beneficial to farmers especially women and therefore encouraged women to always join them during their programs.
