Akufo-Addo commissions new Astroturf at Bantama

The new astroturf that cost the government GHS3 million was constructed by Wembley Sports Complex Company.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, commissioned a new astroturf at Bantama in the Ashanti Region.

Although the rains threatened to spoil the planned commissioning, the president and his entourage stood firm to open the facility to help unearth talent in the nearby communities.

The new astroturf that cost the government GHS3 million was constructed by Wembley Sports Complex Company.

The facility has a normal football pitch, stands, floodlights, as well as a changing room.

The astroturf at Bantama is the initiative of Hon. Asenso-Boakye who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.

He received support from the National Lottery Authority and has finally seen the facility become ready for use.

At the commissioning ceremony, former Ghana players including Kwasi Appiah and Stephen Appiah, Frimpong Manso, Emmanuel Armah, Sammy Adjei, Derek Boateng, Laryea Kingston, and Prince Opoku Polley were present.
