Akufo-Addo’s personal driver is now NPP Parliamentary candidate for La Dadekotopon

He secured the nomination by winning 664 votes, defeating his main challenger, Solomon Kotey Niikio, who garnered 555 votes.

President Akufo-Addo’s personal driver, Joseph Addo has been elected as the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the La Dadekotopon constituency. He secured the nomination by winning 664 votes, defeating his main challenger, Solomon Kotey Niikio, who garnered 555 votes.

The National Executive Committee of the NPP had sanctioned a primary in the constituency after the previously elected candidate, Dr Gerald Joseph Tetteh, resigned for personal reasons. Joseph Addo, who has been President Akufo-Addo’s driver for over 20 years, announced his candidacy after Gerald Tetteh’s resignation.

In a gesture to support the party’s operations, Joseph Addo recently donated an office complex located on Ako Adjei Road to the NPP. The donation was seen as a timely boost for the party, which had been operating from a rented apartment due to a lack of a permanent office complex.

Joseph Addo mentioned that the donation aimed to strengthen the party’s position in La Dadekotopon and help it reclaim the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NPP lost the La Dadekotopon seat in the 2020 general election to Rita Naa Odoley Sowah of the NDC
