Allow Black Stars coaches to pick their own technical team – John Paintsil

Former Black Stars defender, John Paintsil has suggested that Black Stars coaches should be allowed to select their own technical team to build the national team.
He said, every coach has his own philosophy so giving the mandate to pick his own technical team will help him to build the team to a standard he wants.
The Ghanaian former footballer who was an assistant coach at Kaizer Chiefs in the South African Premier Soccer League indicated that if a coach picks his own technical team and players, there will be unity and love among them and they will work together to achieve one goal.
Speaking on Accra-based UTV’s United Shiwbiz on Saturday, 17th February, 2024, John Paintsil urged the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to stop interfering the coaches in discharging their duties and allow them to exercise their powers to build the Black Stars.
According to him, if the former Black Stars coach Chris Hughton was allowed to go to the Africa Cup of Nations the understanding would be different.
“The only advice I will give to the GFA and the government is that when they are choosing a coach, especially the national team, they should choose one coach and allow him to pick his own technical team for the work. Because what happened in Ivory Coast, if the coach went with his own people the understanding would be different so going forward if Agyemang Badu is appointed he should come with his own people who understand his language and philosophy and I think that will help us” He suggested.
“We should implement this strategy in the youth side, you give a team to Laryea, allow Laryea if you give a team to Godwin Attram allow him to pick his technical team so that everything will move smoothly because every coach has his own philosophy so if his philosophy is different from the assistant it will not work” He stressed.
The former Black Stars player noted that the national team is there for everyone and that if they make any progress Ghanaians will benefit from that so everybody should do his or her best to build the team.
