The Governing Board of the Nurses and Midwifery Council has kept the newly approved charges for Foreign Verification Fee of their staff in suspension.
The GH¢3,000 remains suspended by the Council despite giving a nod to the implementation of new examination fees for various courses and related charges, acquisition of personal identification numbers (PINs) and their renewals, registration and licensing, and accreditation for training institutions among others.
In a statement dated May 15, the Council said the new Foreign Verification Fee is still under review.
“At a meeting held on May 15, 2024, the 15th Governing Board of the Nursing and Midwifery Council has taken a decision to implement the newly approved fees and charges with the exception of that of the Foreign Verification. The Foreign Verification fee is still under review and the amended fee will be communicated soon.”
The remaining new charges under Regulations, 2024 (LI. 2481) takes effect on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.
It added, “The Nursing and Midwifery Council remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards of training and practice of Nursing and Midwifery for the benefit of the public.”
The government announced the new charges including a 445.5% increment in verification fees. This courted the across the country, forcing authorities to suspend their initial implementation date in March.
