Jean Mensa calls the 2020 Presidential Elections for Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been declared the president-elect of the country by the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana. This was after the 2020 Presidential and parliamentary elections which took place on December 7.

At a press conference at the Commission’s headquarters in Accra, the chairperson, Jean Mensah, announced the incumbent Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party as the winner with former president John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) following him closely.

According to the EC Chairperson, President Nana Akufo-Addo polled 6,730,413, representing 51.595% of valid votes cast while John Dramani Mahama garnered 6, 214, 889 representing 47.366% in the 8th election in the 4th Republic that had 12 candidates on the ballot sheet.

The EC chairperson used the occasion to call for peace in the country.
