The Electoral Commission has described as “fake” a video circulating on social media alleging that thumb printed ballot papers have been discovered in the Ashanti region during the voting exercise on Monday, 7 December.
The video showed ballots thumb printed in favour of the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Reacting to this claim in a statement, the EC said the information contained in the video is false and should be disregarded.

“The commission’s ballot papers have several security features, key among them being unique serial numbers. Further, all the Commission’s unique serial numbers begin with the number one (1) and not zero (0),” the EC said in a statement.
The election management body, therefore, stated categorically that the ballots shown in the video are fake and are in no way, shape or form the original ballots of the EC.
