Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, says the Ministry is expecting a global audience of over five billion to view the 2023 African Games.
The continental multisport event takes place in Accra from March 8 to March 23 at the University of Ghana Stadium and Borteyman Sports Complex.
Speaking in his address to Ghana’s Parliament seeking approval to the budget for the event, Honourable Ussif stated the expected viewing numbers mainly due to the competition’s partnership with the Olympic Channel.
“In terms of online and global viewers, we are expecting more than five billion because we are partnering with the Olympic Channel as one of the media partners” and added
“30 sporting disciplines will be competed for; eight of them will be (2024 Paris) Olympic qualifiers so all the athletes have to come to Ghana to qualify in the eight sporting disciplines.”
The Minister also touched on progress of work on Youth Resource Centres being constructed in 10 regional locations. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
