2024 election: Jean Mensah entreats contestants to accept the outcomes of the elections

She said the EC is doing everything possible to ensure that the 2024 elections are free, fair and credible.

Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensah has entreated all the contestants of the 2024 general elections to accept the outcomes of the elections to enhance the peace and stability in the country.

According to her, in every election there are winners and losers so the leaders of the various political parties should accept the election results in the December 7 polls.

She said the EC is doing everything possible to ensure that the 2024 elections are free, fair and credible.

“And so we also want to entreat and call upon the contestants of the elections to accept the outcomes of the elections. Surely there will be a winner and surely there will be losers. So we are calling on our contestant to accept the outcomes of the elections because we undertake and we are committed to ensure that the elections are free, fair and they are credible and they are transparent.” She made this comment while the leadership of Parliament presented the Democracy Cup to the EC.

Jean Mensah stated that in order to ensure transparency and credible elections, the EC has made every aspect of their activities open to the public to maintain confidence in the citizens and the political parties.

“To ensure transparency in all aspects of our work, our activities are open as I mentioned right from the registrations through to declaration of elections, everything is done through the clarification of the public. Nothing is hidden, and we will commit to maintaining and ensuring that level of transparency across all aspects of our work.” The EC Chairperson stated.

The 2024 elections have been described as crucial for both the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The NPP is working to win the presidency again with their slogan breaking the 8.

However, the NDC has described the NPP government as a disaster and vowed to unseat them to rescue Ghanaians from the economic hardship.
