Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie, Middle Belt Coordinator for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) campaign, has confidently declared that the Volta Region is now firmly behind the NPP, brightening their prospects for the 2024 polls.
Historically a stronghold of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the region’s residents have shifted their allegiance to the NPP ahead of the elections.
According to Dr. Afriyie, the narrative has changed due to NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s pragmatic policies for the region and Ghana as a whole.
Dr. Bawumia’s recent tour of the region received an overwhelming welcome, with electorates endorsing his candidature.
Speaking on Kumasi-based OTEC 102.9 FM’s morning show Nyansapo, Dr. Afriyie, also the MP for Efidduase Asokore, noted that the NPP will secure more votes in the Volta Region to guarantee victory in the elections.
This development underscores the NPP’s growing influence in the region.
Speaking to Captain Koda, host of the show, Dr. Afriyie said the development is significant, considering the Volta Region’s traditional allegiance to the NDC.
He added that the shift in support could be a game-changer for the NPP’s electoral fortunes.
The NPP’s campaign strategy, coupled with Dr. Bawumia’s policy initiatives, seems to be resonating with the region’s residents.
As the 2024 elections approach, the NPP’s momentum in the Volta Region will likely be a key factor in determining the outcome.
With the region’s residents embracing the NPP, Dr. Afriyie’s prediction of a victorious outcome for the party seems increasingly plausible. The stage is set for an intense electoral contest, and the NPP’s gains in the Volta Region will undoubtedly be a crucial factor in the final result.
