Conducting a peaceful election is a means to upholding the highest standards of electoral integrity, President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has admonished Ghanaians.

He says his government will ensure that Ghana maintains its standard in conducting a peaceful elections, somethings he noted is essential in sustaining public trust the democratic institutions.

During his speech at the Africa Report Summit on Misinformation and Disinformation Thursday, August 01, 2024, the President indicated that the government has put measures in place to ensure that becomes a reality.

“As we approach the 2024 General Elections, the Akufo-Addo government is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of electoral integrity. We recognise that the peaceful conduct of the elections is essential to sustaining public trust in our democratic institutions,” the President reiterated.

“To this end, we have taken several measures to ensure that the electoral process is free, fair and transparent,” he added.

He also stated that the security agencies have been charged to remain impartial, with the police service charged to ensure all political activities are conducted within the confines of the law.

“Our security agencies have been directed to remain impartial and vigilant in maintaining law and order throughout the election period. The police service in particular has been tasked with ensuring that all political activities are conducted peacefully and within the confines of the law, including the law and vigilance,” the President indicated.
