The Electoral Commission (EC) is set to hold balloting of presidential candidates for the 2024 December polls today, Friday, September 20, 2024, at 4 PM.
This important exercise which determines the order of names on the ballot paper follows the release of the list of qualified candidates for the December 7, 2024 polls.
The EC cleared thirteen (13) to run for president of Ghana out of a total twenty-four (24) presidential hopefuls who filed their nominations at the close of the exercise.
Notable among the qualified candidates are John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party, John Alan Kojo Kyeramaten, and Nana Kwame Bediako.
The dusqualified candidates includes Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP) .
Other presidential candidates disqualified by the EC include Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr Samuel Sampong Ankrah and Nii Amu Darko.
The rest are Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw (Progressive People’s Party).
